Meet Recap

The boys team competed very well in all events against a very deep and talented field coming out with 4th place overall. With many athletes running in relays and not their normal individual events, the boys showed tremendous talent and worked well as a team. Elite performances included: Michael Phillips winning the 800m with a time of 1:58.47; Xander Gruenewald coming in 2nd in the 1600m; Matthew Newland dropping the hammer to pull away from the 2nd place runner in winning the 3200m with teammate Robert Nowak earning 5th; Rock Wester earning 4th in the 110m hurdles; Tyrek Robinson jumped to a 7th place finish in long jump; Jeremiah Jones returned on a healthy ankle to earn 6th in triple jump; Connor Hansen worked hard to finish 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in shot put and 4th and 2nd respectively in the discus; the distance medley relay team crushed the standing meet record by a full 10 seconds to win; the sprint medley and 4×200 relay teams worked well together in races we rarely run to earn 1st and 4th respectively; the 4×800 relay team earned 3rd; and the 4×400 team capped the night with a narrow defeat to our region rivals, earning 2nd place.
