The Chiles Timberwolves, down by 23 points in the fourth quarter, staged a furious rally coming up just short in a 26-24 loss to Gainesville High in a preseason game played at Chiles.The Timberwolves struck first with a 20 yard field goal by Tyler Keltner. The Hurricanes then scored four touchdowns in a row by dominating the line of scrimmage as runningbacks Niles Cromwell and Kinnzon Hutchinson split four touchdowns. Down 26-3 entering the fourth quarter, Chiles scored its first touchdown to begin the quarter as Garrett Greene scored from one out finishing a 65 yard drive. Greene scored again on the next drive from four yards out and completed a 2-point conversion pass to Dylan Cooksey to bring the Timberwolves to 26-18. Chiles recovered an on-side kick and drove downfield where Greene completed a fourth down pass to Jalen Herring for the final score of the game. A 2-point pass attempt failed. Gainesville High recovered an on-side kick attempt and ran out the clock. The Timberwolves begin their regular season next Friday at home against the Godby Cougars with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
