Rachel Myrick’s one yard touchdown run with four minutes left in the game was the difference in Chiles’ important sub-district 13-6 win over Leon. Following a scoreless first half, the Timberwolves opened the scoring in the third quarter as Zoe Mitchell ran the ball in from seven yards out. The Lions responded early in the fourth quarter as Zyaire Williams capped Leon’s only scoring drive with a four yard run. Both teams missed on their conversion attempts. Following Leon’s touchdown, Chiles immediately responded as Zoe Mitchell took an option pitch 52 yards to the Lion’s 14 yard line. Rachel Myrick scored on fourth down with Hannah Bernick catching the conversion pass. Chiles’ defense played well with three interceptions, one each by Brianna Caines, Belle McCreless, and Sarah Prescott. Maya Grove had a sack for the Timberwolves’ cause.
